As most of you already know, I will go to study to Japan for five months. I will leave on the 26th of September and come back the 20th of February. I'm very excited to go and I'm not even nervous yet! Yet...
The place where I will live and study is called Yamaguchi (the mouth of the mountain) and it is situated in western Japan. The area is mostly countryside which suits me very well! Yamaguchi City is the capital of the Yamaguchi Prefecture and has only about 200 000 inhabitants. I'm looking forward to seeing a lot of historical buildings and stunning nature! The photo you see with the title of my blog is from Yamaguchi Prefecture.
In Yamaguchi Prefectural University I will study mainly Japanese language and the local culture. So I expect to learn about their art, society and of course about their beautiful but sometimes difficult language. In any case, the studies in Yamaguchi will differ a lot from my art education courses in Rovaniemi!
The journey to Japan is very long but fortunately I don't have to travel alone. I will go with my friend Henna who also goes to study to Yamaguchi. Together the flights and the surely-interesting-trip from Osaka to Yamaguchi will go twice as fast!
As you noticed, I write this blog in English. The reason is that most of the people who will read this blog speak some other language than Finnish and all my Finnish friends know English. Very probably at some point I will get really fed up with foreign languages and start writing also in my mother tongue... heh heh..
I will start writing more when I'm in Japan but I think I will also tell you something about the preparing for the journey and so on. I hope you have a good time while reading this blog!

*By the way, the title of my blog, sugoi, is the Japanese word for great. I hope the five months in Japan will be sugoi!
